Iciar Astiasarán
VICE PRESIDENT OF RESEARCH
Holds a Degree (1982) and Doctoral Degree (1985) in Pharmacy from the University of Navarra. In 2006 she became Full Professor of Nutrition and Bromatology.
She has been Dean of the School of Pharmacy since 2004 and is the co-director of the Institute of Food Sciences at the University (ICAUN).
She has been a member of several academic committees for conferences and associations and is an evaluator at the National Agency for Assessment of Quality and Accreditation (ANECA), UNIQUAL (Basque Country) and AGAE (Andalusia), as well as several academic journals in the areas of Food Science and Technology, Nutrition and Dietetics.
She is a corresponding member of the Royal Academy of Pharmacy (Spain) and a permanent member of the Basque Academy of Science, Arts and Humanities (Jakiunde). In 2006 she was awarded a Gold Medal for her "academic career in Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Safety" from the Provincial Council of Guipúzcoa.
She has participated in 27 research projects and has directed 20 doctoral dissertations (4 of which received an Award for Excellence and 3 of which were for European doctoral degrees). She has published 120 journal articles, coauthored 19 book chapters, co-edited 9 books and has submitted papers to 80 conferences.
