Handbook of Virtue Ethics in Business and Management: New Publication by Ignacio Ferrero and Alejo Sison


Ignacio Ferrero, the Dean of the School of Economics and Business Administration, and Alejo José G. Sison, a lecturer of Business Ethics, address the approach of virtue ethics in the business world and management in the book Handbook of Virtue Ethics in Business and Management.
The book begins with an introduction on the history and chronology of virtue ethics to provide acomplete overview of the development of this topic and the most influential authors and works. The second part of the book presents a systematic approach to this field and the main topics. They consist of conceptual, empirical and applied contributions, as well as case studies. The authors provide a look at different areas where virtue ethics have been applied and show the effect they have on different parts of the company. Finally, the authors examine the answers virtue ethics can offer to the most important questions facing 21st-century companies.
Ignacio Ferrero has been the Dean of the School of Economics and Business Administration since 2014. He holds a PhD in Applied Economics from the University of Navarra with an Award for Excellence. He is a member of the Academy of Management and the European Business Ethics Network. He was a visiting scholar at Harvard University, Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame, and the Center for Business Ethics at Bentley University. He is a co-founder of the Virtue Ethics in Business and Management research group.
Alejo José G. Sison teaches Business Ethicsin the School of Economics and Business Administration. He became a full professor in 2015. He is the editor of the Journal of Business Ethics and Business Ethics Quarterly. He does research from the perspective of virtue ethics and the common good in areas where ethics, economics and politics overlap. His works include Happiness and Virtue Ethics in Business (Cambridge University Press, 2015).
