Four researchers from the University of Navarra included again amongst the most cited in the world
Clarivate 'Highly Cited Researches 2021' highlights 6,602 scientists and social scientists from more than 70 countries

Professors Jesús San Miguel, Miguel Ángel Martínez-González, Ignacio Melero and Pascual Berrone, researchers from the University of Navarra, have been included for the second year amongst the most highly cited scientists in the world according to ‘Highly Cited 2021 Researchers’. The list, carried out by Clarivate Plc. follows the Web of Science citation index, which recognizes 6,602 scientists from more than 70 countries; 109 of them are Spanish.
The list identifies "those researchers from around the world who have demonstrated significant influence in their field by publishing highly cited articles over the past decade in journals that rank in the top 0,1% of citations," Clarivate notes.
Dr. Jesús San Miguel is Director of Clinical and Translational Medicine of the University of Navarra, medical director of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra and scientific director of Cima. Professor in Hematology, he has published more than 800 articles in international journals and contributed to more than 20 International guides about the diagnosis and treatment of myeloma. He has been awarded the highest distinctions from the European (Carreras Lecture) and American (Ham Wasserman Lecture Award) Societies of Hematology, along with important national awards, including the King Jaime I Award.
Professor Miguel Ángel Martínez-González is the Director and Professor of the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the School of Medicine of the University of Navarra.Appointed Visiting Professor at Harvard University in 2016, he has been reappointed in 2021. With an index h=137 (Google Scholar) and 1456 publications (Clarivate), he has trained numerous young researchers who are now Professors. He is PI of the SUN project, with more than 23,000 participants and around 300 publications.
Dr. Ignacio Melero is co director of the Department of Immunology and Immunotherapy of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra and senior researcher in Cima. Professor of Immunology and professor in the School of Medicine, as a researcher he has written almost 300 articles published in international scientific journals. Dr. Melero is a corresponding member of the Royal National Academy of Medicine of Spain and has received the Bial Grand Prize for Medicine (Lisbon, 2004) and the Francisco Cobos Foundation Research Award (Madrid, 2020) among other awards. His research is mainly focused on cancer immunotherapy strategies.
Profesor Pascual Berrone is the Academic director of the Executive MBA in Madrid, Professor of Strategic Management and holder of the Schneider Electric Chair of Sustainability and Business Strategy at IESE Business School. He is also Vice President of the Iberoamerican Academy of Management. Professor Berrone has been recognized on several occasions for his research work, such as the IBM Faculty Award for his work on research and teaching strategies in his book 'Cities and urban development'.
