The Clínica Universidad de Navarra has been recognized, for the second consecutive year, as the best private hospital in Spain, according to the Monitor de Reputación Sanitaria (Monitor of Health Reputation; MRS). The organization has published the results of its second review after carrying out a survey of 2794 professionals involved in the health sector. La Clínica also achieved the best overall reputation (out of a total of 100 public and private hospitals evaluated) in the analysis of indicators of quality and clinical management.

Of the 31 private hospitals analyzed, La Clínica was the most highly rated private hospital centre with a score of 10,000 points, ahead of the HM Universitario Sanchinarro (6615 points) and the Hospital Universitario Quirón in Madrid (6614 points). For the survey almost  2800 health-care professionals: specialist doctors, general practitioners, nurses, patient associations, health reporters and hospital pharmacists, evaluated the best-regarded hospitals in Spain on the basis of the services they provide. The study looked at hospitals in two groups: public and private.

With regard to the public health service, the MRS found the Hospital Universitario La Paz in Madrid to have the best reputation (10,000 points), and this hospital, too, is recognized for the second time as being the best in its sector. Second is the Hospital Clinic Provincial  in Barcelona (8491 points) and the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre  in Madrid (7491 points).

By Specialty

Public and private hospitals together were also rated by medical specialty, which constitute 90% of hospital activity.

La Clínica was among the top ten in the specialties gastroenterology, cardiology general surgery (and digestive system), dermatology, endocrinology, nephrology, neurology, obstetrics and gynaecology,  oncology, paediatrics,  psychiatry, orthopaedic surgery and traumatology, and urology.

It should be noted that the data obtained from the professionals surveyed covered almost 900 indicators of quality and clinical management. To this end a total of 70 big hospitals, among them La Clínica, facilitated data. From a further 30 hospitals public data were evaluated.

The MRS is an independent organization that receives no grants but rather is financed through sale of its confidential reports. The methodology used in ranking the best-regarded hospitals, both by specialty and in general, has been submitted to independent review by KPMG (Norm ISAE3000) and is endorsed by medical  and nursing associations as well as health journalists and associations representing patients.
