Medizin als praktische Wissenschaft (Medicine as a practical science) is the newest volume in the Reason and Normativity collection, which is edited by the Natural Law and Practical Rationality project of the Institute for Culture and Society.

The volume presents a selection of ten essays by Wolfgang Wieland, who is professor emeritus of philosophy at the University of Heidelberg. The essays examine key issues in medicine and modern health systems. The volume was edited by Rainer Enskat, professor at the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg (Germany) and Alejandro G. Vigo, principal investigator of the Natural Law and Practical Rationality project and professor of philosophy at the University of Navarra.

Professor Wieland, one of the most prestigious medical theorists in the world, is particularly known for his text: Diagnose. Überlegungen zur Medizintheorie (Diagnóstico. Consideraciones para la Teoría Médica) yStrukturwandel der Medizin und ärztliche Ethik. Philosophische Überlegungen zu Grundfragen einer praktischen Wissenschaft (Structural change in medicine and medical ethics. Philosophical reflections on key issues in practical science).

The Reason and Normativity collection, edited Ana Marta González, principal investigator of the Emotional Culture and Identity project, and Alejandro G. Vigo, principal investigator of the Natural Law and Practical Rationality project, is published by OLMS, a publishing house with international academic prestige distributed in Germany, Switzerland, the United States and France.
