Elena Hernando Gonzalo
Managing Director of the Lázaro Galdiano Foundation
Elena Hernando Gonzalo holds a Degree in Geography and History from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and obtained the requisite qualifications to join the Spanish Civil Service.
After holding a number of different posts in the General State Administration, in 1999 she moved to the Ministry of Culture, where she was responsible for setting up Spain’s Cultural Contact Point for the EU’s Culture 2000 programme. Subsequently, she was appointed Deputy Director-General for the Promotion of Fine Arts, a role she held for almost a decade. Elena is currently the Managing Director of the Lázaro Galdiano Foundation, where she is responsible for managing the museum, library and archives and for publishing Goya magazine.
