Wendy Gallagher
Head of Civic Engagement and Education, Manchester Museum
Wendy Gallagher was appointed as Head of Learning and Engagement at Manchester Museum in April 2018. Her new role is key to drive forward the major £13 million capital development project, hello future. This transformation, driven by social purpose aims to become the UK's most imaginative, inclusive and caring museum.
Gallagher is also strategic lead for health and culture across the Manchester partnership (Manchester Museum, The Whitworth Gallery and Manchester Art Gallery) and was recognised for outstanding and innovative contributions to arts and health research and practice by Royal Society of Public Health in 2012. Her career has been driven by a longstanding commitment to collaborative practice creating a culture of cooperation across public and private sectors with the aim of making museums more meaningful and relevant to the communities they serve.
Wendy manages significant International partnerships in Australia, Taiwan, Finland, USA and India and is regularly asked to speak at conferences both internationally and in the UK. She is also a board member for the Culture, Health and Wellbeing Alliance and Our Shared Cultural Heritage board with the British Council.
