Objectives and competences
The objectives of the Doctoral Degree in Applied Medical Research are:
To provide doctoral students with training in the methodologies used in applied medical research.
To train doctoral students to design and conduct basic research projects to resolve clinical problems.
To prepare doctoral students to carry out research projects aimed at identifying new diagnostic procedures and therapeutic targets.
To provide training for professionals in different areas, especially doctors, so they can carry out competitive research in healthcare.
Competences
In accordance with the provisions of Article 5 of RD 99/2011, the Doctoral Degree in Applied Medical Research guarantees that doctoral students will acquire basic competences, abilities and/or personal skills.

Other specific competences include the capacity to carry out clinical application-oriented research projects to identify new diagnostic procedures and therapeutic targets. Doctoral students will also acquire certain specific competences associated with their experimental work and that forms part of their doctoral thesis project, depending on the line of research that frames it.
