Ignacio Ferrero, Dean of School of Economics and Business Administration, Presents Winning Research Project for Rafael Termes Carreró Research and Study Prize
The inaugural edition of the Rafael Termes Carreró Research and Study Prize took place at IESE Business School

Ignacio Ferrero, the Dean of the School of Economics and Business Administration, and Marta Rocchi, a researcher at the Markets, Culture and Ethics Research Centre (MCE), gave a special presentation of “Wall Street and the (Ir)Relevance of Ethics: Building the Character of Financial Analysts”, the research project that won the inaugural Rafael Termes Carreró Research and Study Prize. They gave the presentation during the inaugural edition of the Rafael Termes Carreró Research and Study Prize, which took place at IESE Business School in Barcelona.
On the occasion of its 50th anniversary, the Catalan Branch of the Spanish Institute of Financial Analysts (IEAF), which brings together more than 1,500 financial analysts and professionals from all over Spain, gave the award in recognition of the research carried out by Ferrero and Rocchi in the field of financial ethics. It was the inaugural edition of the prize, which is awarded in memory of IEAF founder and IESE professor Rafael Termes (1918−2005) and is designed to foster and recognize research and study activities (not necessarily of an academic nature) that focus on the professional activities of financial analysts.
The study presented by Ferrero and Rocchi is based on the theory proposed by Scottish philosopher Alasdair MacIntyre in his 2015 article “The Irrelevance of Ethics”. Using this theory as a starting point, Ferrero and Rocchi examine the function of the humanistic disciplines in the academic training of financial professionals and the role of morality in the financial sector.
